[Private to SELF]

Something has to give. I can't keep doing this like this. I should be able to trust myself regardless of the circumstances. If not completely, then at least to the point where I can function unimpeded. That has not been the case since I awakened in this place, this "Kannagara". It doesn't matter whether it's another world or a hidden continent. I need to get in touch with the company. I need to return to Midgar.

Four days is as good as five too many. What a way to spend my day off.

I need to be objective.

My name is Valeria. I am an active member of the Investigative Division of the Shin-Ra Electric Power Company's Department of General Affairs. On the morning of August 5th, four days prior to this record, I awakened amongst a group of mostly unfamiliar individuals in a vast, heavily forested region. The central landmark of that region is a large, circular garden in the center of which is a giant tree that grows into the sky.

While at that location, I encountered an unfamiliar youth -- fifteen or sixteen years of old -- who greatly resembles Sephiroth. He was openly hostile towards myself and the company. His words indicated that he has a history with the president and the Turks. The youth attempted to engage me and failed, after which he took his leave.

Other notable encounters at that location include Iruka and Kakashi -- two men who claim to know me. They claim that I have been in this world, "Kannagara", which they allege to be ruled by gods and goddesses, before. They also claim that these 'gods' and 'goddesses' must have tampered with my memories and that that is why I do not remember my past experiences in this place. They

They knew my name and occupation. That can be explained. Their familiarity to me, however, cannot be explained sensibly. I knew their names before they told me. I trusted them to handle escalating hostilities between three young boys, one of whom I recognized even. I knew his name, too, and I've never seen these people before. I'd never met them before that day.

I initially believed this "Kannagara" to be a virtual simulation, but my PHS has been nothing short of unresponsive. I can't get a signal here. It is possible that the training room has been fitted with new, advanced simulation technology, but there are too many holes in that theoretical scenario. Any conceivable objective is too broad. This 'scenario' is entirely too detailed, encompassing languages and places I have never heard of. My time here far exceeds that of the maximum allowance, too, and those are just a few examples.

My alternate theory was that this experience was the product of a drug-induced state, but the signs and symptoms needed to confirm this are absent. While it is possible AVALANCHE may be behind this, I highly doubt it. As well as the theme fits them, this isn't their style, which leaves me to contemplate the various theories presented to me by others alleged to share my situation.

The content of the network shared by the Hitomis (these devices, the functions of which are explained HERE by Akira Okuzaki) proves I am not the only one who has been forcibly misplaced. A number of others arrived at the same time, in the same general location as myself, Kakashi, Iruka, and Sasuke. Others have since arrived, presumably in the same location. The majority of them seem to have been taken by surprise. Those that have not seem familiar are familiar with Kakashi and Iruka, who claim to have been here for the past six months.

A recent arrival who is familiar with Kakashi claimed to have been unaware that the Konoha shinobi were absent for that span of time. Kakashi provides him with an explanation HERE. It sounds as bizarre as the various theories that have been passed around, but it is worth noting. Others have found they are familiar with place and world names, but that time discrepancies exist between them, and are actively working to find both an explanation and a way to return to their rightful places. (LINK)

No one I've encountered to date recognizes Midgar or Gaia as anything but bits of mythology from their worlds The only person I've encountered to date who is even remotely familiar with my 'world' is the boy who attacked me, the one who looks like Sephiroth. I'd like to speak with him. I'm not even sure what I did to provoke him that day. His hatred seemed almost personal. Regardless of his feelings towards the Turks and Shin-Ra, we're in the same situation. We both want the same thing: to return to our rightful place. If working together means there's even a slight we can accomplish that faster, I'm willing. I'm just not sure he'd feel the same. Should I bother or is it a waste of both our time?

I'll think on it.

Either way, something has got to give. If I can't trust myself, who can I trust? Sitting around doing nothing will get me nowhere fast. I've got places to be, people to meet, and a job in a world that waits for no one. Sorry, everyone. I won't be long.

[ /SELF ]

[ Light static declares its failing dominion in the same the instant the Hitomi's audio function is enabled. It's there one second and gone the next. The sound of shifting fabric assumes its place and actively detracts from the wind's vocalized dance amongst the naked boughs of Hisato's myriad of slumbering trees. Her voice moves into the unsteady calm, tones carefully strung and blended to uphold prior, pleasant appearances. She may be distraught, but the world in its entirety doesn't need to know. Now how to begin...? ]

Has anyone else noticed a discrepancy in the way their Hitomi observes the time? According to my Hitomi, three days pass every twenty-four hours. I'm sure stranger things have happened here, but I thought I'd ask.

Has anyone made any progress towards finding a way out of here? How is everyone holding up? Well, I hope. If you're not, don't hesitate to ask for assistance. We have these Hitomi. We might as well put them to good use.

Kakashi, Iruka: I need to speak with you as soon as possible. Actually...

[ Footsteps sound in the background, light and near-inaudible. ]

Yes, just the two of you. When you have a moment, please let me know. I -- oh! Right! Before I forget...

Kiba, Akamaru:

[ She pauses, wondering how best to word this. ]

How do you feel about cats? Small cats, like... kittens?

[ Hopefully not too badly, but she doesn't say as much. The occasional mewl that sounds in the background is probably a dead give away. ]

Mr. Suou, Roy: you might as well weigh in, too.

[ A moment later, the audio function is disabled and the entry resumes in text. ]

[Private to SASUKE]

Have you found anything?

[ OOC: Enjoy the tl;dr! I'll delete this OOC note and also pick an icon for this post later. I had to get this up before the fifth okay. Ff-ffffffff. ]

Whatever it means, it can't mean anything good.

[ A pause. ]

You're in the mountains? I don't think we've spoken before, have we?

[ The surname-given-name pattern is not lost on Valeria, who, had this been a video response, would have been seen tilting her head slightly in turn. ]

Miss Asano.

[ She shifts audibly in the background. ]

You can call me Valeria.

I don't think I've heard of any village called Raisato. I guess that makes sense, though, if it's in the mountains.

[ Another pause. ]

How long have you been here, if you don't mind my asking?

[ It seems almost strange to her how used to those pronunciations she's become. It's only been four days. (Then again, she hadn't noticed the differences in the way people here pronounced it until Katsuya had attempted to say her name on the second day...) ]

Bah-reh-ri-yah works. Or Bah-reh-yah.

That's how most people here say it anyway.

[ The following pause is immensely brief. ]

I've been here long enough to be ready to leave, and quickly.

I don't mind.

[ The smile in her voice dims as she considers the girl's last statement. ]

Don't let it get you down, Rin. This place, I mean. There is a way out.

[ We just have to find it. ]

[ There's an apologetic lilt to Valeria's tone. ]

If I did, you would.

[ If she did, all of them would and none of them would be in this place, this predicament. Not her, not Rin, not Kakashi or Iruka or Katsuya... ]

1/2 - [voice]
No, I would not.

[ Because she has a job to do. She has a mission to accomplish. She has people who are counting on her and she is nowhere they can find her. ]

2/2 - [voice]
[ A few minutes pass before the second audio message is recorded and sent. Her voice sounds somewhat softer than before, and less distant. ]

I apologize if I got your hopes up, Rin. That wasn't my intention.

[ The corners of her lips twitch upward of their own accord. ]

I guess that makes two of us, doesn't it?
