[ The Hitomi reveals that her expression is somber, thoughtful. This is an awkward question to broadcast amongst strangers -- although, upon reflection, it would be considerably more awkward to broadcast it amongst the many male strangers who appear to be populating this society. And she is used to boys, really. She likes boys. But. This is not a matter for boys. ]

So. [ Head-tilt. She brushes a few strands of hair behind one ear, reflexively, then plunges onward: ] Do any of you have any -- [ Wave of the hand. No, that's not the right question. This is not a matter of one size fits all. ]

Do you know any doctors I could speak with about birth control? What do you use here?

[ She has found advantages and complications to every method. IUD would have worked better, she thought, had her body been more organic, but as it was, she bled too hard and nearly became anemic. And hormonal pills could be misery-inducing. Setting the timer to take them each day had not been too joyful, either. Her most preferred contraceptive had been internal rings.

Of course, she's not certain if this world has any of those things. It seems a little primitive. But the women must be using something. Chrome has only noticed a few women -- so, logically, they are probably having quite a lot of heterosexual sex. This seems the most statistically plausible conclusion. ]

I really need a personal physician, you see.

[ Because her body? Not exactly in the most natural condition these days. Sustaining yourself with illusory organs tends to put your health in a somewhat precarious state. And because of her unique anatomy, she has specialized needs. It had not been too hard to procure personal physicians back home. She had connections enough for that. But here? It seems as if it might be rather more difficult.

And insofar as gynecology goes -- well, every woman needs a gynecologist. That is a basic health concern. Birth control is especially prominent in Chrome's mind because pregnancy is not high on her list of things to deal with: never mind about whether she would choose to continue it or not. She probably would not have the option. Her internal parts are still far too susceptible. Doctors have cautioned that, if it ever comes to that, there is a very good chance she will simply rupture and die. Or develop a chemical imbalance from the bodily changes and die from that.

Of course, she might end up being celibate in this world, for all she knows, but in the event that she does have sex? She would really prefer it to be non-foetus-creating, not-too-complicated, and not exceedingly deadly.

Those seem like reasonable risks to wish to set aside. ]

You don't know what --

[ Oh. Well, Chrome had been informed that the people in this world came from many different universes. Perhaps this girl comes from one in which such modern conveniences do not exist.

So far as Chrome can tell, her manner of dress is quite plain, and more in line with what the natives of this world appear to wear. But maybe it is only that there is a language difference which inhibits her understanding of the terms. ]

Things to prevent . . . pregnancy?

. . . Of course!

[ And it's horrifying to think of a world in which it's not. ]

If I ever . . . figure out if they have such things in this world . . .

In my world, they do.

[ She frowns. She's going to have to look at the stores here, she supposes. ]

So it's possible . . .

Uhhh. If they do have -- such things -- would you be interested? In . . . shopping with me, I guess?

Ah. Um.

Do you know Mukuro-sama, by chance?

[ It occurs to Chrome that Mukuro-sama may not be the most ideal reference, considering the reactions he sometimes provokes in others, but she does not know anyone else here terribly well just yet. ]

Ahhhh, I -- well, I know others here, a little.

I know Mr. Renji a little . . .
