Week 6 Day 2 [ accidental video ]

[The Hitomi clicks on as it falls out of his shihakushou. From its awkward angle on the ground it captures the lower half of his face, with gritted teeth bared in what might be akin to a snarl, a fur cowl on his shoulders and what appears to be the tail end of something extremely massive. Those that were with Renji during the Nightmare Week will recognize it as the skeletal snake he refers to as his bankai--Hihio Zabimaru.

There's a yell and suddenly the feed on the Hitomi jars violently as something smashes into the ground. And then, a few moments later, it happens again. It continues like this for some time, with the Hitomi being constantly bounced about as the thing continues its rampage, led by Renji. Despite the constant jumping of the feed from the continual crashing, there are snatches of images in which the rest of Hihio Zabimaru can be seen, as well as Renji, and if one's paying close enough attention, they may see the hazy outline around him from all the reiatsu he is releasing. The feed continues until the Hitomi is unfortunate enough to be in the path of Zabimaru's massive jaws, at which point it abruptly cuts out before the object repairs itself and returns to him.]

[ooc: Renji's taking out his temper from Rukia being gone on some poor unsuspecting field and trees outside of Hisato. Other residents may feel the upsurge of energy from the release of his bankai along with all the power he is pouring into it.]

[This is not altogether unusual. Rin knows there are plenty of reasons to be furious around here. What is unusual is how he's going about letting it out, but Rin has a feeling that this is not the first order of business right now. Especially since it might be something that concerns Kannagara at large, for all she knows.]

may I ask what happened?

[Oh, it's her again. Rukia's friend. There's the crackle of static for a few moments after he hits the response button, and then his voice is low and quiet.]

Rukia. She's gone.

[For just a moment, that statement shocks Rin into silence. It's not something she was prepared for at all. She hasn't been thinking of Rukia much at all lately, and her last thoughts of her were perhaps not hateful, but not the most favorable, either.

It's not a terrible loss, not as great as Renji's own must be, surely -- but it does have an impact on her. She was, after all, not thinking about losing Rukia, who's been her first friend here.]

I... oh.

[It was a shock to Renji, at first, too. When her reiatsu had disappeared, he was confused. It wasn't as if it faded slowly, as it had when Rukia first died, it was just...gone. There, and then gone. It had taken a little while for it to sink in, and for the shock to settle into anger, as now.

This second loss, it hits harder than the first. This time...he'd seen that dream, that false 'memory' of being raped and killed, and she'd seen his own...and found out how he felt about her. At first he'd been afraid of her knowing, but if she did, wasn't there a possibility...?

...Probably not, but now he wouldn't even get to find out.]

It's not like last time. She ain't dead.

[At that, Rin breathes a little sigh of relief, something she isn't aware she had the need to do until she does. There was that possibility. Rin wonders a little, how he knows. But she's not going to ask. She can see that it might hurt too much.]

So, she's... she's gone from this world?

[That, at least, she has to ask.]

...Yeah. Seems like it, anyway.

Unless the gods're fucking with us again.

Well, I guess they're fuckin' with us by us jus' bein' here in the first place, but anyway.

Mh, they are doing that, but... I'm not ruling out that they might be fooling us in this matter, too.

[Japanese gods can be moody, volatile beings, and it seems like here, they are even more so. Makes sense, if this is their own realm. Of course, Japan, the Earth, is ultimately theirs, too -- but not in this same way. For the first time, Rin wonders consciously: what is Kannagara? Is it the Heavenly Plains? Is it Yomi? No, not Yomi -- and if it were the Heavenly Plains, why would there be shrines? Why, indeed, would humans even be granted access in so deliberate a way? This must indeed be something that exists parallel to the Earth. Simply an experiment, maybe?]
